There is little worse on a road trip than not having a good road trip car. Here's a list of features you should look for when deciding on which car to take on your trip.
1. Good gas mileage-Let's face it, gasoline is expensive and having an empty wallet can really put a damper on your mood
2. Reliable-Even if you do love that 1990 rusty Grand Prix, you do not want it to break down on you.
3. Leg room-pretty important if you have very long legs or infrequent stops. Most cars have pretty good leg room so it's not something you should nix a great car for.
4. Cup-holders-Good for holding more than cups. I keep change, cameras, souvenirs in these nifty little pockets. They are great for keeping small items organized, safe, and easy to access.
5. Bucket seats-More comfortable than bench seats and help keep the peace i.e. "He's on my side of the seat!" Plus they can recline for naps, and provide space between the seats for snacks.
6. A (working) radio or CD player-Music can soothe the savage driving-for-three-days-with-limited-rest beast
7. Removable mats-They make it easy to clean up spills and crumbs.
All of these features are from my experience, you may need to adjust the order of importance based on your situation.
